We are now at the end of day 4 of week one of the Awesome blogger awards and a few questions have come up that I need to answer.
How do I enter the Awesome Blogger Awards?
The Awesome Blogger Awards are a cooperative effort. Awesome blogging helps build your author platform and can be a lot of fun. To enter you need to do two things:
- Write blog posts
- Have a reason to link to the theme post for the week
That’s it.
If you use a modern blogging platform like WordPress, you will have done everything you need to do in order to notify us of your entry. If your system does not use pings or trackbacks, just post a comment with a link back to your post.
There are lots of things you can do to be more awesome (all optional) which includes:
- Praising another blogger
- Linking to a deserving blog post
- Starting a conversation
- Talking about topical issues
- Encouraging others to be awesome
Give it a go and let us know how you find it.
Can I write fiction?
Absolutely, yes. What you write about is up to you. I suggest that you start a conversation and a compelling story or poem can be just the ticket.
If you blog exclusively fiction then blog a fiction. I suggest a story or poem that explores issues that others can talk about in their blogs but what you post is entirely up to you.
Do I have to write about the themes you pick?
No, these are just suggestions. The week’s themes are something to get you started. They all relate to the say and so might be a jumping off point. However where you take things is up to you.
For example, on Thanet Star, I was connected Ice Cream for Breakfast and talking about poverty. So there is a whole new conversation for you to join in with.
How do I post a link?
Links are a huge and important part of platform building. Which is why we covered this topic for our platform builder last year. You can still read our guide to linking on the old site.
If you are still struggling, feel free to ask a question in the Author Buzz forums, or in one of our groups here or on Facebook.
Do I have to take part every week?
For maximal awesomeness, I suggest that you do but, no, this is entirely optional. Find an interesting conversation and join in when you are ready.
What is the prize?
Like all our platform builders the prize is that you will have created great content, received praise and publicity for it, and built your platform up. Not to mention that we hope you have fun and pick up some serious bragging rights.
If all goes according to plan we expect that you would see a spike in traffic to your blog too. (That’s a good thing).
Any other questions?
There is no such thing as a bad question. If you need more information, please do ask.
If you have a question that I’ve not covered here, feel free to use the comments to ask. Or you can ask your question in the Author Buzz forums, or in one of our groups here or on Facebook.
My only question would have been about pingbacks, but from what I’ve seen I only need to create a link to the competition post on my blog post relating to the competition and the pingback will happen automatically
Pretty much that, yes.
