As we enter week 2 of our (February) awesome blogger awards we’ve seen some interesting discussion themes starting. Now, let us look forward to the second week.
Facts about February
Here is a list of the “best” books of February 2018. Do you agree with the list? Do you agree with lists like this at all? What are your best books of the month?
The story of why February has only 28 days is an interesting one. Lots of people fiddling with things is the short story. Why not let your readers know the full story?
Keep blogging, keep being awesome. For an overview of February as a theme, check the week one post.
Week Two Topics.
This week has a lot of food-related themes. So our week-long theme is food. What’s not to love about that?
In a related note, this post should have been up yesterday but I realised too late I had made a scheduling mistake. I apologise for not having this to you yesterday.
8th of February
Today is something called Fat Thursday. It is a traditional Catholic Christian feast marking the last Thursday before Lent and is associated with the celebration of Carnival.
Starting on the 5th and ending on the 11th are Doppelganger Week and World Interfaith Harmony Week. Surely there is a good short story in there somewhere? A week where people look just like you…
9th of February
In the USA they celebrate National Pizza Day. I always thought that was Friday. I’d be interested to see if someone writes a story about pizza.
What does pizza mean to you? What is your favourite pizza? Do you even eat pizza?
10th of February
Today is Shabbat Shekalim in the Judaic calendar while in Eastern Christianity today is Saturday of Souls.
For me, Saturday has generally been a day to hang out with friends. What about you?
11th of February
In the UK, this day is known as Autism Sunday. The International Day of Prayer for Autism and Asperger Syndrome. You don’t have to be religious to use this day to raise awareness for autism.
The 11th sees the kick off for Random Acts of Kindness Week. You might like to think about how to use your blog to celebrate that. I recommend rewarding a deserving blogger with high praise.
This day is also International Purple Hijab Day. It is an international day of remembrance for those who have experienced domestic violence. International Purple Hijab Day is observed on the second Saturday each February. It is most often celebrated by Muslims, with women donning a purple hijab, but anyone may participate by wearing a purple item of clothing on the day such as a scarf, tie or Kufi
12th of February
The 12th is known in some parts as the start of Cheesefare Week. I love cheese. I will love blog posts about cheese. In Scotland, it is known as Meal Monday. Mmm, food.
This day is also known as Shrove Monday. The same thing but by another name, this day is known as Collopy Monday, Rose Monday, Merry Monday, and Hall Monday – it depends on who you ask.
13th of February
This is the day known as Shrove Tuesday. Also known as Mardi Gras or Pancake Day, this is another foodie day. I do like to talk about food I love. Do you?
14th of February
For the last day of the week, I thought I’d remind you to pick up on things others are blogging and extend the conversation to your own blog. This is what we mean by cooperative blogging.
This day is also National No Smoking Day in Ireland as well as being the start of Lent. What are you giving up for Lent?
